Where to live in Manila?
For newcomers to the Philippines, choosing where to live can seem complicated.
Given the road traffic and existing infrastructure, it is advisable to find accommodation close to the LFM.
It is also important to consider the community aspect: your child will likely enjoy living in the same village or neighborhood as their classmates, which helps with integration and socialization.
To assist you in making your choice, here is the breakdown of where families with children currently enrolled at the Lycée Français de Manille live*:
Where Families Live
Makati: 38% of families
Nearly 4 out of 10 students live in Makati, north of the Eurocampus. Closer to business districts and the capital’s attractions (shopping malls, restaurants…), this city features leafy villages such as Dasmariñas, Urdaneta, Legazpi Village, and San Lorenzo. Rental prices are generally higher here than elsewhere, but access to the LFM is made easier by the Skyway.
Average home-to-school commute: 30 minutes
Parañaque: 26% of families
A little more than a quarter of families live in Parañaque, where the campus is located. They are spread across barangays such as Don Bosco, Merville, Sun Valley, or Moonwalk, the villages closest to the school. Rental prices here are often more affordable.
Average home-to-school commute: 15–20 minutes
Taguig / BGC / Pasay: 11% of families
Located north of the Eurocampus, this area attracts about 1 in 10 families. It offers similar advantages to Makati (urban living, quick access to amenities), with comparable rental costs.
Average home-to-school commute: 30 minutes
Muntinlupa / Las Piñas: 7% of families
These families have chosen a greener lifestyle south of the Eurocampus, in villages such as Ayala Alabang, Alabang Hills, BF Homes, or Filinvest. The area is less urbanized, with spacious residential communities, but commutes are longer and rents can sometimes be costly.
Average home-to-school commute: 35 minutes
Manila (Intramuros, Malate, etc.): 5% of families
Some families prefer the historic and cultural heart of the capital. The environment is livelier and denser, but traffic can make commutes long and unpredictable.
Average home-to-school commute: 35–40 minutes
Other cities outside Metro Manila: 13% of families
Some families live outside Metro Manila. In such cases, special transportation arrangements are required.
