Celebration of Octobre 20, 2017
The Lycée Français de Manille and the Deutsche Europäische Schule Manila celebrated the 25th anniversary of the very first Eurocampus on Friday 20 October.
For a quarter of a century now, we have been working together on a daily basis to grow and fructify this project led by our founding fathers, which today welcomes nearly 700 students of all ages and classes, bringing together more than 32 nationalities from all regions of the world.
Together, we are proud to contribute every day to upholding the values of openness while supporting the commitment to international educational excellence and a deep commitment to Philippine culture.
The ceremonies began in the morning, as part of the International Day, in the presence of Mrs Leni Raeuber and Mr Philippe Gauthier, representatives of the founding fathers of Eurocampus, members of the management committees of our two schools, parents and former students, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Chargé d'Affaires of the French Embassy, the Ambassador of Austria, the Cultural Counsellor of the Spanish Embassy, and representatives of the Embassies of Thailand, Canada, and many partners from our institutions.
After the national anthems sung by the Eurocampus choir and the opening of the ceremony by the two Principals, Mr Andreas Thiergen (GESM) and Mr Jean-Marc Aubry (LFM) Mr Gordon Kricke, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Laurent Legodec, Chargé d'Affaires of the French Embassy, Mr Rainer Gutler, Chairman of the Board of GESM and Mr Bénigne du Parc, Treasurer of the Management Committee, took the floor in turn, paying tribute to the founding fathers of Eurocampus and to all those who work daily for the success of this European project in the Philippines.
The ceremony ended with songs performed by students, followed by a balloon release in the colours of the Eurocampus by the students.
Thanks to our sponsors Axa, Air France, Pamora Farm and Ice Culinary for their support of this event.
